Copying Layers, Divs, etc from .dwt page to a .master (.aspx) page

I'm making the sometime patience-testing migration from FP to EW to redesign (really, re-create) my (small) company's web site, will never be a web site developer (not my company's business at all), but already value all the features EW offers over FP.

Happy with the appearance and functionality of .dwt template pages created so far to control look-feel of .htm pages, I now want to build .master pages to govern look-feel of .aspx pages.  It appears there's no direct way to attach a .dwt page to an .aspx page (if I am wrong about that, please say so).

Are there better ways, from a time, site functionality, and/or design strategy perspective, to easily copy the contents from a .dwt page to a new .master page? Or, is my fate to build the .master page from scratch?

I have (and heavily use) the Jimco "Using Microsoft Expression Web". If the answer is in there, or if there are places on the web to read up on this, I'll go there especially if it saves you from writing stuff that already exists.  Just say the word.

     Many thanks.
